About the Book

The Spirit of Politics is the author’s narrative of South Sudan’s journey, told from a futuristic perspective to his 15-year-old grandson on the nation’s 40th Independence Day, 1951. The teen wants to know how a nation that was in great turmoil became a stable, influential, middle-income economy in one generation. In four parts, the author narrates a journey that began in the early 1800s.

The author covers South Sudan’s story according to historical records in part one; and His-Story, i.e. God’s story of South Sudan according to His original plan and purpose, in part two. Parth three reveals the disconnection between our story and God’s story based pm David’s epoch-making question, “If the foundations be destroyed…” (Psalm 11:3a). Part four holds the keys to some solutions for national reconstruction as the Lord revealed to the author, based on the second part of David’s question “…what shall the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3b).

Should South Sudan embrace these lessons, we shall be well on our way to creating a national inheritance for future generations. This is in keeping with what King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived said: a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children (Proverbs 13:22a).
